LPG brokers slam OGRA notificationLiquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices across Pakistan have been increased by at least 16 percent or by Rs 13 per kilogramme (kg) in order to ensure compliance with the latest directive from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

A press release issued here on Wednesday revealed that the OGRA has, through notification No OGRA-LPG-17(242)/11 dated September 19 informed Pakistan’s 11 LPG producers that the controversial petroleum development levy (PDL) intended to facilitate imports and financially shore up Progas Pakistan Limited, a bankrupt LPG importing company facing litigation, and other LPG brokers has to be implemented positively by Wednesday, September 21, failing which “strict punitive action” shall be taken against noncompliant producers.

Pak Suzuki clarifies OGRA's decisionPak Suzuki on Monday has clarified in a notice to the Karachi Stock Exchange that Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has banned import of storage cylinder not of vehicle cylinders.

Notice further stated that the OGRA decision, as per the news flow, pertains only to CNG storage cylinders that are different from the ones used in cars/LCVs.

The clarification came on account of earlier reported news that OGRA has banned the import of CNG cylinders from 12 suppliers, including Faber and EKC, which supply CNG kits to Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC).

OGRA withdraws decision about registration of LPG distributors

Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA)Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Monday declared its decision regarding the registration of authorised distributors of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) marketing companies “null and void” with immediate effect.

According to a document available with Daily Times, OGRA wrote a letter to LPG Association of Pakistan on June 26, which stressed ensuring the safety of distributors premises. While Deputy Executive Director (LPG), Abdul Rab Khan has revealed that OGRA took in principle decision to ensure the registration of all authorised and appointed distributors by LPG marketing companies with the authority.

OGRA fixes LPG price at Rs 105/kg, warns of profiteeringThe Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has fixed the uniform sale price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at Rs 105 per kilogramme (kg) across the country and strictly warned the LPG marketing companies not to sale LPG above the uniform price, otherwise their licences would be cancelled.

According to the Notification No OGRA/LPG/17(2010)/10 available with Daily Times, because of windfall profits made by the LPG marketing companies, the consumer price for ongoing month of July has been fixed at uniform price Rs 105 per kg across the country.

SSGC accounts approved

The 52nd Annual General Meeting of shareholders of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) on Monday approved the audited accounts for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2006.

Shareholders unanimously approved the annual audited accounts as presented, which declared 13 percent dividend amounting to Rs1.30 per share of Rs10 for the year under review, a press release issued here said.

Addressing the meeting Chairman SSGC Aitzaz Shahbaz observed that Pakistan’s ‘Mashal’ LNG import project has helped put the country into the world’s LNG radar screen. Sales revenue of the company increased in value over the previous year by 26 percent to Rs68.5 billion with a corresponding increase of 6 percent in gas volume to 359bcf.
